Block 076
is home to the southern portion of the Tabor Center, a two-block retail,
office, and hotel complex that spans across Lawrence Street to Block 068.
This end of the complex features retail along the 16th Street Mall and the
19-story, 430-room Westin Hotel. Along Arapahoe Street
is the center one-third of Skyline Park, Denver's three-block linear urban
green space. But Block 076's most famous resident is definitely the D&F Tower, Denver's oldest high-rise building and one of its most
recognizable and well-loved buildings. Built in 1910, it once was the
tallest building west of the Mississippi, and was almost destroyed in the
1970s as part of the Skyline Urban Renewal Project, which did claim the
historic department store building to which the tower was attached. |
