Unmanned Cars Rolls onto I-25

This morning at about 10:30, this happened at 16th & Central near the Highland Bridge:

Here’s what I understand happened: the driver parked along the northwest side of Central Street and left his car in neutral (and without the parking brake on) to run into Masterpiece Deli to pick up a to-go order. The car started rolling, turned ninety-degrees, jumped the curb, rolled down the embankment, and–smash!–right onto I-25. Or something like that.

Doesn't anyone use parking brakes anymore? Was the driver ticketed?

I agree, Ken. Luckily, no one was injured.

    The car looks surprisingly undamaged.

I feel for the guy. I think a lot of people have done something stupid and had their car roll down a street till they caught up to it – though few of them end up on the highway like that. Seems like the worst possible luck.

That must have been exciting for the people driving!
