Off topic, but does anyone know what happened to the green lighting on 1999 Broadway? I noticed it was not lit on Sunday evening, and was still out as of last night. Any clues?

My two cents: I've never understood why Denver police officers only get out of their patrol cars when there's a special event. Downtown is so walkable, why don't they get out of their cars and walk a beat? Regardless of how you feel the homeless issue should be approached, I know many people who have been uncomfortable with their presence when they've visited me downtown - having a few cops out walking around would go a long way towards increasing peoples' feeling of safety. Plus, I think everyone can agree that we don't need two city cop cars and two wackenhut vehicles idling in front of the 7-11 at 16th and Champa - it's a waste of money and pollutes our air. Again, just my humble opinion.

I have a comment on how to make denver better. Plant street trees and don't let them die! I don't know who decides what trees to plant but the only trees I see lasting more than a few years are locust trees. All the other ones die off. And I'm guessing that they don't get watered at all. You plant a tree in the middle of concrete you gotta water it!
