Spire – from the Top

Chris from Nichols Partnership gave me and a couple of associates the chance to get back inside Spire on Friday and go all the way to the top–as in on the roof! The view, needless to say, is incredible. Thanks to Austin for his fine photographic skills, here are a few breathtaking shots. Just don’t look down!

Wow – simply stunning views! Thanks for posting them Ken.

danm, does that last photo show all that's great and awful about Denver, though. The parking lots up and around Trinity church and OLP and those below/south/west? of the Pavillions. We need some midrise development like that around Coors in these areas…please.

Very nice! However, those darn lots all around the campus and Pepsi Center are just so ugly.

Were Sports Accord people all around?

What is that big Black and Yellow crane behind the Art Museum? Are they starting on the Clifford Still museum? Or am I just seeing things? It is a bit distant in that picture.

I think the crane next to the art museum has to do with their latest round of roof repairs, but the other day I did notice a construction trailer on the Clifford Still site–could that be for the art museum repair, or the start of Clifford Still?

Those are beautiful shots, especially the last one, in which downtown looks like a toy model–except for all the parking lots, of course.

That would be so awesome if they started building the Bell Tower! I don't think there is enough cranes in Denver.. I want to see more! MORE! MORE! lol

Man…. What is that embarrassment of a building with the yellow stripes and the yellow box on top? I would hate to have that monstrosity as my view! fI wonder if the Spire residents (when they move in) could lodge a complaint with the city over that building?

it still baffles me that the Clifford STill Museum (cant wait!!) had to buy and bulldoze a nice mid-century building in a neighborhood that has a TON of available parking lots available for development.

It's interesting how Ken only prints positive comments. I love Denver but it's a big city and can take a little criticism once in awhile, and by Kens own words still has a long way to go to becoming a great city. The Spire is another square box with tiers and a fancy light on it. Sorry not impressed. One Loncoln Park is another story; hurray for interesting architecture, and not alway praising every building being built in Denver.

off subject but how can a city like OK CITY,OK build a 925' buildn & not D-City!?

Ken – thanks for such a great blog/site! Just curious though… when will the civic center page be updated to join the other maps?
    Thanks again!
