Ralph Carr Judicial Complex Update #4

A lot of progress has been made with this particular project since I last did a post on it in late May.

The facade is crawling up the office tower quickly and the circular structure is set on the top as well.

The 4-story portion of the building now has the structure up for the rotunda which adds a whole new breath of life in the project.

Here’s looking at the same portion of the project from the ground on the corner of 14th and Lincoln Street.

An overall front view of the project.

On to the Broadway side, you can see the facade on the 4-story portion is almost to the top.

They were installing some of the glass today. It catches the eye a lot more being broken up versus one solid pane of glass.

On to the back side of the office tower, the facade is almost complete and you can now see the name of the complex above the rear entrance.

In my post back in April I took a picture of this project off my balcony. It has grown and changed since then and it fits in very will with its surrounding neighbors.

I see this project every day when I get home and it is quite a treat to see such fast progress. I’m looking forward to seeing what it will look like once the glass starts crawling up. Also if you look very carefully in that last picture you can see that CenturyLink has begun to make their mark on the Denver skyline.

Union Station Tour This Saturday, August 6

This Saturday’s Union Station walking tour will be special. It will be our only tour taking place during the 3-week transition from old light rail station to new light rail station. The old station is closed and the tracks removed from the street. The new station’s finishing touches are being applied. 16th Street is being rebuilt. Hundreds of workers are busily preparing the site for the August 15 opening of Phase 1 of the new Union Station transit hub. This is an exiting time for all you transit, construction, or urban enthusiasts out there, so why not join me this Saturday morning to check it out?! Bring your cameras!

As always, meet in front of the historic station at 17th & Wynkoop at about 9:50 AM. We’ll get started promptly at 10:00 AM and conclude around 11:00 AM on the Millennium Bridge. The suggested donation for the tour is $10 per person and all proceeds go to the non-profit Union Station Advocates, but you’re welcome to attend regardless of what you can donate. See you Saturday morning!

Denver Union Station Update #77

Let there be light! The lights were turned on a few minutes ago for the first time.

By now you are familiar with the view from my balcony. I was surprised to see that the new station canopies are lit from beneath. The actual view is more attractive than the photo which washes out the scene with too much light.

2020 Lawrence Update #1

Back on the 13th, Ken posted the details of the new 2020 Lawrence project that is taking place between 20th and 21st on Lawrence.  This new and exciting project is underway and going at full power.

This site was busy. Workers going in and out with trucks and equipment. Good signs of steady progress. You can also see its newer neighbor in this picture, Solera which was just completed by the same company building 2020 Lawrence.

There was a lot of equipment around on this particular day. In just this frame alone you have a pile driver, tower crane, and concrete pump all working.

It looks like the elevator core has started to go vertical.

This is a great start for the Arapahoe Square district. Another lot taken up with many more to go.
