1145 Ogden Street Update

I do not have much information on this project nor is it easy to find but there is a little rental project going up in Capitol Hill between 11th and 12th Avenue on Ogden Street.

From what I know, there was a house on site that was demolished to make way for this building. It appears to be three stories and almost complete. Contractors were also working on the house next door. Little projects like this are also exciting especially in the heart of Capitol Hill.

With ‘The Logan‘ also under construction we can only hope there will be more projects coming up to fill some empty gaps in this neighborhood.

Its nice to see the brick on all facades and the articulation of the windows. They still have the silly projecting balconies that no one uses. But, it is definitely an improved version of the typical Denver apartment buildings that you see throughout this area. The early 20th century buildings are usually pretty nice, but most of the 60’s era ones are pretty rundown. I think you had something on your blog in the past that looked at some add ons that were being incorporated to upgrade them.

Really? I see a lot of people use these balconies. It’s the juliet style that can only support a small house plant.

The developer bought that site and the site to the north, which has a house on it. They planned on scraping both for their apartment development. However, the zoning allowed them to have fewer parking spaces if they provided “car share” spaces. So, they did not have to scrape the house to the north and consequently got more units on the site.

Thanks for finally posting about this. It’s a good addition to the neighborhood, especially in keeping with the theme of the neighboring apartments. When you get the time, you should check out the project at 8th and Emerson, too. Excavation has just begun there–not sure what it’s going to be, though.

This is between 11th and 12th, a block north of what’s in the post. Here’s a picture of the building that was razed on Google Street View:

I used to live across the alley quite a few years ago. I’m glad to see some buildings this size coming to this area.
