As I mentioned last week, it’s time to begin a new season of DenverInfill walking tours of the Denver Union Station project!
Since this Saturday morning is Denver’s big St. Patrick’s Day Parade which goes down Wynkoop Street, I’m moving our normal tour start time from the morning to 3:00 PM. Also, in case the parade isn’t finished by 3:00 PM, we will start the tour at the west end of the Union Station Transit District. Everyone interested in taking this Saturday’s tour should gather at 2:50 PM next to the three big concrete stacks in Light Rail Plaza next to the Union Station light rail platforms and the Mall Shuttle terminus.
We’ll begin promptly at 3:00 PM and work our way east towards Wynkoop Street and the historic Station. Hopefully by then, the parade will have wrapped up. We’ll conclude around 4:15 PM.
As always, we will cover the transit and transportation infrastructure components, all the private-sector development, the new public spaces, and the restoration of the historic station. The tour is free and open to the public. The suggested donation for the tour is $10 per person and all donations go to the non-profit Student Chapter of the American Planning Association at the University of Colorado Denver, but you are absolutely more than welcome to take the tour whether you make a donation or not.
So please remember, for this tour only:
Saturday, March 16, 2013
Arrive by 2:50 PM. Tour begins at 3:00 PM
Meet in Union Station Light Rail Plaza by the three concrete stacks
The weather looks great for this Saturday, so please join me for a good walk and conversation about Denver Union Station… and don’t forget your camera!
Is this tour happening rain or shine?
Yes! (Is it supposed to rain)?
I missed this one! When is the next tour scheduled so I can get it on the calendar? Thanks.
Ken, there is a chain link fence with Alpine banners on it surrounding the old Burger King on Stout & 15th. I recall several years ago there was a hotel planned for that space. Do you know what the site will become? I live at the Spire and would love to see that vacant eyesore destroyed.
Where might you be at around 3:30 pm? We’d like to catch the tail end of the tour but will be coming from a baseball game in the suburbs. Thanks.
Probably just getting to leave the Light Rail Plaza area.
