Hole-in-the-Ground Census: Summer 2013

Today we are going to tally up and look at something a little different. Instead of doing a Summer 2013 tower crane census, given we haven’t seen many new cranes go up since the last census, we are going to tally up all of the holes in the ground from projects that are just starting to take off. Many projects are beginning to wrap with tower cranes starting to disappear off of the skyline but don’t get discouraged! You would be surprised on how many projects still haven’t completely broken street level. Let’s take a look.

1Legacy 22nd, 22100 Delgany

3Residences at Prospect Park, 416M

520th and Chestnut, 61650 Wewatta

7Balfour at Riverfront Park, 8Walnut Flats

9aLoft Denver City Center

Here’s a fun fact: There are just as many holes in the ground as there are tower cranes in the sky as of today. On top of that, we are expecting more projects to begin this year! What an exciting time to be in Denver!

The 1650 Wewatta photo is one of the clearest photos of the state of the Union Station platform construction which I’ve seen. Any chance of more photos showing how much of that is built?

Unfortunately that is the only photo I took. I’ll make sure to include some platform shots in the next Union Station update!

Good! I was concerned about the lack of cranes, but am now relieved that there are many new holes in the ground in our urban corridor

Ken actually has something in the works and it’s going to be exactly what you described! We should be seeing it soon here on DenverInfill!

        Ryan–
This would be a fantastic addition to your blog/site. We hear of so many planned projects and wonder if they all can be financed. Now that the 7Eleven has closed at 8th and Lincoln, how about a look at what is planned for that block?

      This sounds amazing!

I think you can do this with Google Maps Engine Lite.

Have you folks considered taking a “census” of surface parking lots in and around downtown? I’ve been thinking about doing one myself, but realized it might take quite a bit of work given the rapidly changing landscape of Denver and the regularity with which Google releases updated satellite imagery.

You missed Alta City House. And also, while not a hole yet, 1601 Wewatta has broken ground. Very exciting times!
