Density is the new trend over in Cherry Creek North. Rising to 12-stories, the same height as its neighbor the Steele Creek Apartments, Coda, formally known as the First and Steele Apartments, is making its mark in the neighborhood.
The structure has topped out with the facade working its way up. Coda will feature a prominent glass curtain wall, which you can see is well underway, along with paneling and more glass features around the rest of the building.
Here is one additional view of the front of Coda from East 1st Avenue and Steele Street.
There is a lot of new density and glass going up in this corner of the Cherry Creek neighborhood. Here is an early 2014 and present day shot from the same vantage point.
Even a 12-story building can have a huge impact on the street level. Looking down Steele Street, and west down First Avenue, we can clearly see that this project provides some great density.
Coda will provide Cherry Creek North with 185 apartment units and is expected to complete mid-late 2016.
Is that tiny Wells Fargo sticking around?
As far as I know it is. Seems a little out of place now whereas, even 3 years ago, it fit right in with all of the other single-story structures around it!
I thought I heard that it was owned by the same company that built the tower to the west and that they had conceptual plans to replace it with a shorter building. Something like 5-stories at some point in the future. But, of course, I can’t cite any sources, because I can’t find them. So, take my memories for what they’re worth.
I was thinking the same thing because I thought I mentioned it in the past. I looked up and there is nothing planned for it. Maybe down the road, but definitely not in the immediate future.
It’s zoned for 12-stories though!
Cherry Creek is developing a nice dense skyline.
Wells Fargo owns the real estate their branch is sitting on and it is definitely zoned for 12 stories. From what I know, the parcel at 155 Steele St is going to be developed at some point in time this year with condos according to the Cherry Creek Area Business Alliance and I believe it’s supposed to be 8 stories.
