The Colorado Health Foundation Headquarters is now complete in the Uptown neighborhood. Located at 18th Avenue and Pennsylvania Street, this neat three-story infill project adds 32,500 square feet of office space to the neighborhood.
DenverInfill had some great coverage on this project with updates every step of the way. Follow the link below to visit all of our previous posts.
Colorado Health Foundation Post History
The ground level, the most important aspect in every infill project, is very attractive. This project provides an overall friendly experience to pedestrians with multiple setbacks from the sidewalk, featuring two public seating / plaza areas and ample seating around the exterior.
Another neat aspect of this project is the jagged roof-line. It adds an “out-of-the-box” element that is greatly welcomed. Here is the project from across 18th Street looking south.
Last but not least, here is a closer look at the garden seating area you can see while walking alongside the project. It surrounds the parking ramp that goes down to a single level of underground parking which will be used for visitors and patients.
The Colorado Health Foundation is a great win for the Uptown neighborhood. Not only does it provide an attractive building to this particular block but it also takes part of a block long surface lot that has created a hole in Uptown for many years.
Did they remove the benches around the building? I live right near this project, and it looks like they uprooted all the benches in the past week or so.
That seems odd. I took these photos late January so they aren’t super current.
Not sure what it was but I’m pretty sure those benches weren’t there for a few days, probably wanted to do something different with the installation. (Disclaimer: I just walked past this building and the benches are back, but there is still some odd discoloring around where they originally tore up the brick)
Ryan – I’m with the CM/GC for this project and served as the PX. What’s your policy on sharing/purchasing photos that you take? Pics look great!
Hi Justin – I sent you an email!
A beautiful building. I just hope that maintenance over time of the wood elements, for instance, keeps it as beautiful as it is now.
This is a question/request for future coverage rather than a comment:
Do you guys have any knowledge of what is going on at the location of Cherry Creek Square on 3rd Avenue between Milwaukee and St Paul? It appears part of the building is being merely renovated (such as the location of the women’s store Mariel) whereas yesterday they demolished a massive chunk of the building on the St Paul side. I haven’t seen any news about this and several friends have been asking me if I knew anything about it.
Additionally, a heads up and request for any info you have now that it’s been announced that UC Health will be building a five story outpatient facility on 1st Avenue and Cook, across the street from Key Bank. This is apparently going to replace the old shopping plaza that’s currently home to a shoe repair store, Xpresso coffee kiosk, etc. Any news on when demolition and construction will commence?
Finally, there’s renovation work going on on that ANB building on Milwaukee and 1st, where they ripped up the entire sidewalk and installed new street lamp fixtures and a new sidewalk. Is any major improvement or addition happening to the building other than apparently making it white?
The amount of construction going on in Cherry Creek is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in a neighborhood I reside in. It’s rather exciting. But how does the city plan to deal with the increased traffic flows without any other transport solution other than the current bus lines? I wish Denver would look into something because in the coming few years this area is going to be even more dense than it is currently.
