We are now going to swing by the Welton Corridor as there is a significant amount of construction happening within just a few square blocks. Let’s start with the 21st and Welton Apartments, an 18-story, 329-unit apartment project.
Because there is minimal underground work needed to build this project, the foundation is nearly complete and the cores are already starting going vertical.
They may be hard to see against a gloomy sky, but there are also two grey tower crane bases now installed on the project site. These two cranes should be going up in the very near future.
Just a year ago, this part of Welton was nothing but blocks of surface parking lots. Now, two full blocks of parking have been eradicated and are now under construction. What a great transformation!
I’d love to see more city park west, park hill, and skyland projects profiled. I’m not sure what your boundaries are for the website, but some projects of note:
– 28th and fairfax. plenty of press about it, yet nothing here.
-18th and north gaylord. right across from another project you’ve profiled, the york.
– 17th and n lafayette. another project with lots of press and nothing here!
– bounded by monroe, wilson, and 30th and 31st. big project (for the neighborhood) under construction here as well!
I look at your website every day, and look forward to all your updates as usual. Keep up the awesome work!
There is so much going on it’s crazy and so it is very difficult for us to cover all of the projects under development in central Denver. We don’t have set boundaries, but the Gaylord and Lafayette projects are within an area we generally cover and we will certainly try to get those on the site, and possibly the Monroe/30th project too. The Fairfax project is a little farther out than we normally go. Keep in mind DenverInfill is a volunteer effort that Ryan and I do during our “spare” time after our full-time jobs. Thanks for reading and we we’re glad you like DenverInfill!
I would call it a “transformation”, but not a “great” one.
Agreed. They’re all sub-par projects.
I agree! Except for The Lydian, that one is a great project – will add needed density AND retail to that part of Welton, with a decent design and urban form as a bonus. Open question: why are Alexan developments around town so retail averse? They are located in walkable/semi-dense areas that would definitely support the potential businesses, and a real missed opportunity in my opinion.
Great effort on keeping the public aware of projects under construction or proposed. Denver is a vibrant and rapidly growing city that has seen long periods of little or no housing or office construction. I lived in Denver from 1976 to present and have personally witnessed the construction of most of the larger office towers in the central business district. What a great transformation in the past 10 years. Denver and surrounding suburbs are growing much more rapidly than I have seen since the Oil days of the early 80’s. A larger economy here in Denver will continue to support this newer developments going forward.
I currently live in the Eagle Crest Neighborhood of Aurora, CO. Send me a note If you know of any new developments near the I-225 and Parker Road or along the Parker Road or I-225 Corridors. I would be kind enough to occasionally take site photos and then send them so you can add them to your site.
Tower cranes are now up on this site!
