Let’s stop by the Auraria Campus to check in on the CU Denver Wellness Center project going up at the corner of Speer Boulevard and Auraria Parkway. In our Update #1 post back in September 2016, construction was just getting started. Since then, good progress has been made as the exterior walls of the part of the building holding the fitness pool and gymnasiums are going up. This is an interesting sight, seeing three-story walls standing without any internal supports or floors (viewed from the Speer side):

On the Auraria Parkway side of the site is another three-story part of the facility—yet to go vertical—that will contain numerous fitness rooms, weight training areas, a rock-climbing wall, and various other functions. These views show where this part of the building will eventually rise:

The 12th Street side of the facility is where the lobby, student lounge, game room, and an outdoor terrace will be located.

Let’s wrap this up with a nice rendering of the project we posted in our last update showing the Speer/Auraria intersection in the foreground and looking southwest:

The CU Denver Wellness Center is scheduled to open in time for the Spring 2018 semester.
