Over the past few months, since our last update on Riverview at 1700 Platte, the 210,000 square foot building has been making great progress. Not only is it above the street level, the project, as a whole, is close to topping out.
Let’s start out looking at the project from Platte Street, where the 9,309 square feet of retail will also reside. Here we can see that the concrete shell is working its way up. The southern four-story portion of the building, featured in the first photo, is very close to completely topping out.
When looking at the project from the river, you can see the topped out four-story portion of the project. In addition, this helps establish a nice street-wall of modern buildings along the Platte River.
We should expect to see the brick and glass facade start to go up in the near future which is when we will check back in on this project.
It’s looking nice. I hope to eventually see an update on the river embankment (step) that is being put in next to REI. That stretch of river is really changing for the better.
Not really sure where else to post this and the photo at the top captures it perfectly. What would it take to get the power lines that hang over Commons Park either buried or re-located? Is that something anyone ever talks about? Would it require a partnership between the city and Xcel? I guess I don’t fully understand what all that would take (or cost), but I’d love to see them gone! What precedent (if any) has been set for burying power lines in Denver?
Commons Park has come a long way. It has beautiful city views, mountain views, and is a great urban spot to catch sunset. I love the views from the highlands over the park into downtown, but I think the power lines are obtrusive and take away from the overall ambience of the park.
Xcel Energy plans to decommission the Zuni Power Station if they haven’t already. So those lines might not even be active at some point soon, and getting rid of them might not be as big a deal. Though who would pay for it is the question?
