Whittier

Whittier is primarily a single-family neighborhood featuring historic homes from the 1890s and the early decades of the 20th century.  The neighborhood is home to the San Rafael Historic District and several historic churches and schools. Another prominent feature is Manual High School and Fuller Park, both located in the center of the neighborhood.

While infill consisting of multi-family residential has been limited so far, the neighborhood has experienced the development of a number of new single-family and duplex homes in the past few years, reflecting the growing desirability of the area.

With the FasTracks extension of the existing Light Rail from the 30th & Downing Station north along Downing Street, the Whittier neighborhood is likely to see further transit-oriented developments along the corridor.
