If you have been around the Millennium Bridge lately, you probably noticed some serious vertical action when looking north. 16 Chestnut, the second office building for DaVita, is making great progress.
There are three cores going up on the project site that will serve both the parking structure and office tower. Below is a panorama of 16 Chestnut taken from approximately 70 feet up.
The first five floors will consist of a concrete structure. Floors 6 through 19 will be built with steel, which will go up significantly faster than the concrete floors. Here are two street-level perspectives of 16 Chestnut along Chestnut Place.
Construction along Chestnut Place is a stunning sight as the Union Station neighborhood keeps on developing!
What’s being built on Fox St, wedged between the Park Ave and Wewatta St flyovers? There is already a 4 story stairway core and large foundation built on the site. More housing for Union Station North?
I believe that is a mini-storage facility, “Stor All Storage.” That’s from Denver’s ‘Site Development Plans’ map.
It’s a 7-story storage facility. Yay.
The biggest pain in the neighborhood is the construction of DiVita II. The 16th street mall loading has been destroyed, Chestnut street is practically closed, the Light Rail station is more difficult to reach if you can find it. I am surprised that Sanders Construction was allowed to virtually close the surrounding area in such a manner. It would not happen in a major city. All of this is supposed to ONLY take a year and then things will be back to normal.
As for DenverInfill, I love it. I recommend it to anyone that expresses interest in what is going on in our city. Thank you for all your hard work.
