On a chilly and snowy Friday afternoon, a great milestone was reached at McGregor Square. In just under a year and a half, this massive full city block project has officially topped out. Congratulations to Hensel Phelps, Stantec, the Colorado Rockies, and over 600 workers currently on the project site making this development possible.
DenverInfill had the honor to attend the topping out ceremony and captured some photos of the event.
In addition to the topping out ceremony, we were able to take a quick peek at the public space that will be at the center of it all.
McGregor Square is expected to be complete by the start of 2021.
Wow this is going to look great, it fills in such a terrible parking lot in such a prime location. Love it!
It seems like this building is going up very quickly.
What’s the beige object with all the signatures/autographs on it? Is it going to be a permanent fixture somewhere?
Great photos!
That is a concrete pour bucket that is used to, well, pour concrete at upper levels. It won’t be part of the building.
Did they remove all the trees on the west side of the building? I notice those trees are drawn in the original rendering, but I recall not seeing those trees when I went to a game last fall.
Although, I guess they will probably be replacing with some great new landscaping, so disregard that question..This building is going to be awesome !
There was a discussion at one point that the center courtyard could be used for winter ice skating. That would be cool as hell, what a great location for that!
I think this project, together with the Market Street Station Project, will be a tipping point of sorts, that will really drive even larger numbers of visitors to LoDo. The combo of Market Street/Union Station/River Front/McGregor Square/Dairy Block, together with all of the new hotels, will really make that area rock. Now if only we can fill the parking lot at 17th and Blake . . .
I am really curious to see how the partially enclosed public space is going to feel and function. CO is known for and people are used to wide open spaces. This is going to feel very different. Hope it functions well as well.
i just wish the Rockies as a baseball team weren’t a dumpster fire currently.
