The tallest building currently under construction in Downtown Denver is Block 162, a 30-story office tower that appears to have recently topped off, with the structural steel frame finally rising to the top of the concrete elevator core.
Our last Block 162 update was in January, so it’s time we take a fresh look at this project from all sides as the tower and its glass curtain wall are clearly making an impression on the Denver skyline. We will begin with the views from the west and work our way around the site counterclockwise.

That’s it for our photo tour of Block 162’s progress to date. The tower is expected to open in late 2020 or early 2021 so we’ll have at least one more opportunity to visit the site before the grand opening.
I’m actually very impressed that they’ve managed to hide the fact that it’s 40% parking garage.
The reflective/modern glass is beautiful, I just wish this tower was 20 stories taller!
Yeah, excessive car storage!
I believe the garage is to help with the planned Hotel portion for the second project phase.
One would hope, but that’s not the case. I’ve heard that the hotel will have its own separate parking structure.
Bet we won’t be seeing any new office towers anytime soon!
Nor the planned second phase Hotel! Not for a long, long time.
Can anyone tell me whatever happened to the new hotel next to the Spire? It is going up, up, up? Did it get going in time before the virus hit? I moved away last year, and I miss Denver and all the fun changes to the city!
The project was moving steadily through the development review and approval process, with both foundation and superstructure building permits in active review through early March. Since then, not much has happened; although a couple of items were filed in early April, so the project may just be on pause for now due to COVID… we’ll just have to wait and see.
I wonder how long it will be before they are able to open up the part of 15th Street they have blocked?
