Today we have a quick post on the X Denver projects going up in the Union Station North neighborhood. As construction has been taking place, we still haven’t had much of an idea on what either of these buildings would look upon completion.
When doing some research on both X Denver and X Denver 2, we came across new renderings courtesy of the developer’s website. Without further ado, here are two new renderings of the projects. The architect on record is Studio PBA.
It’s nice to finally see what these two buildings will look like once complete! In addition, we recently visited this area; check out the post here.
Thanks for the update! I cannot express how grateful I am to see these posts during this tough time. Is it just me or does it seem that the construction pace for X Denver has been a little anemic?
Why is the self storage still under construction in this photo haha. Also wasn’t that building at 2980 Huron St being planned to be an apartment building as well? Here is the link from 2018 https://businessden.com/2018/11/21/13-story-apartment-complex-proposed-in-ballpark/
I strangely like it, despite the fact it’s pretty hideous. Guess I’m a sucker for the baby blue and the pool.
119 (at least) more cars looking for street parking, plus guests!
This tiny neighborhood is starting to look super dense. When these buildings are complete, do you have an estimate on what the population density will be for this area?

Have been away for the winter and wasn’t checking Denver Infill because I heard it had ended. I too am glad you are still operating. I love seeing all that is going on and miss the tours you used to conduct.
I hope all the sq footage of these buildings under construction are absorbed during this challenging time. These are unsettling times but have faith Denver will persevere.
Keep up your good work.
Thanks for your comment! We took a break for a few months during the summer/fall of 2019 but we are still here and have a new/better webhost and are looking forward to the next decade of DenverInfill!
This is exceedingly ugly and soul-sucking excuse for a building. How is this crap approved in such a visible skyline location?? I like the idea of rooftop activated building, but why couldn’t they taken some design cues from The Source Hotel?
My theory is: the bigger the graphic art on the facade of a new building, the more bad design they’re trying to hide.
I’m intrigued by the colors and style of the art, but why grimacing/serious faces? A piercing eye? I guess it supposed to be sexy, but it comes off more big brother capitalism/dystopian. I wish they would do something similar but with a soothing geometric pattern, or a butterfly, or a tree, or cloud or a million other things more pleasant/normal.
Wow, look at that skyline. Is it done? It’s almost as big as Kansas City’s.
What?? That was joke right? Kansas City’s skyline makes Denver look like Chicago by comparison.
Please add a winky face when being sarcastic.
I’m a denver native .I see so much of the Sam-o, same-o square top buildings being built. What a waste. Buildings should be going up not spread out with 14 -30 story buildings.Hopefully I’ll be moving to Roswell New Mexico away from this cracker box city…..☆
I get really excited to see these wonderful projects, but I am tired of seeing massive, new structures being built without green roofs. I understand there are opt outs based on the current guidelines, but I would like to see Denver Infill thoroughly highlight projects that are committing to a more sustainable future.
It’s pretty concerning how easily city officials are able to ignore the will of the people. Referenda isn’t just a suggestion. Worse: Green roofs and rooftop gardens are really wonderful uses of empty space, great for the urban ecosystem, and necessary to manage water runoff. I’ve got a nice view of a large rooftop garden across the street and I couldn’t help but feel a little jealous last week as its (masked) residents started planting it. Who wouldn’t want such an amenity?
Keep in mind that a good number of these structures that are currently U/C squeezed in under the green/cool roof deadline (including X Denver and X Denver 2). Most of the projects that fall under the new ordinance are still in the proposed stage and will we likely won’t see many new projects with these roofs for a number of years.
But the trains squeak so loudly in making the turn on the tracks here.
