One Lincoln Park, the 32-story condominium building being developed by Osborn Development at 20th and Welton, is topped off and the tower crane is starting to come down. It was October 2006 when the tower crane for One Lincoln Park was installed:
To celebrate the tower’s progress, here’s an awesome photo, courtesy of Vicki from the Uptown district, of One Lincoln Park and our nicely densifying Downtown area:
Time for phase 2
Gotta love those telephoto lenses!
I'm confused… I thought for sure there would be a thread on here about Blueprint Denver and the recent "downzoning" – any thoughts/insight Ken?
What is phase 2? Those large empty lots on either side of Lincoln are just begging for infill possibilities…
^ It's a very messy devisive issue and I can see points on both sides. I think, though, that there are two issues that people are mixing together: design and density. I can understand the problems of poor design and big bulky buildings next to smaller homes. Unfortunately, that won't be prevented by the downzoning. On the other hand, density (i.e. more home, people) is generally good for the neighborhood.
Would people prefer a duplex next to them if the building was well built and in scale with the adjacent homes? Or would they prefer a single family home regardless of how big/boxy it is?
Which is it… design, or density?
In addition, those neighbors who fight the density then also lament the lack of affordable housing. If zoning requires a 3000-6000+ sf ft lot per dwelling unit, that sets a floor price based on land costs and building materials which is, ever increasiliy, unaffordable to the median or lower incomes.
This is a bit off topic – but in line with the rezoning discussion. R-1 zoning doesn't prevent scrape-offs from occurring. It only prevents duplexes from being built. I'm sure that the scrape-offs will continue, especially because those are desirable neighborhoods.
Sorry but I must have pulled a George Costanza and fell asleep under my desk… what's this about downzonning? Where can we get more info?
And Cheers to One Lincoln Park!
Wow, that second photo is a really great shot! I hardly recognize it as Denver. I hope they go through with the plans for the surrounding lots!
Hmm… that shot also makes the Qwest building (barely visible on the upper left hand edge of the frame) look really ugly, doesn't it?
I think blues and greens are good colors for Denver's style.
Anyone have any insight into the Golden Triangle crane collapse this week? The mention of the crane in the pics brings it to mind.
Wait! What crane collapsed? I dont live in Denver anymore? Can someone fill me in on that?
Here's some info on the 'crane collapse': http://cbs4denver.com/local/crane.elati.denver.2.712529.html
