What’s going on with Two Tabor you ask? Over the past few months, the word on the street I’ve been hearing is that they are *this close* to securing their financing. Then the other day John Rebchook at the Rocky Mountain News had an article essentially confirming those rumors. In case you missed it, here’s the article: Two Tabor Alive
In these days of craziness in the financial world, let’s hope Callahan Capital Partners can pull it off. It’s too bad the credit markets are so screwed up; otherwise, this project would probably be under construction by now.
I'm not nearly as excited about Tabor Two as I am about Ikea coming to Denver.
My move from out east is complete.
Just imagine how much economic growth is being curtailed by the current state of the credit market. There are probably countless examples where capital that otherwise would have been spent, is not being spent. There are would-be jobs missing from the job market. It's amazing how much impact the credit crisis is having on the economy.
Of course some correction was needed to reign in the irresponsible credit free-for-all that has gone unchecked too long, but it will take longer for lenders to recover if their belt-tightening continues to spill into markets where no correction is needed. How are they ever going to start making money again?
It's good to hear about the strength of Denver's commercial real-estate market. More good news for Denver. I've got my fingers crossed for this Callahan project.
If that project comes to fruition, that will be 3 40+ story projects going on at the same time. We have had zero of those since the the mid 80s. Not bad for tough economic times.
the ikea is great news, but a tough challenge to a 40+ tower downtown! great news.
I'm excited to see the west side of downtown begin to fault the skyline which will create a overall fuller look to our skyline. Ikea? Would someone please inform me of where you got this info?
oops I meant 'vault' the skyline…
It was all over the news… Ikea will be opening a store in Centennial in the next year or two. So it's not ACTUALLY in Denver. But probably good new nonetheless.
I hope the Denver Ikea looks better than the ugly blue box stores they build everywhere else…
Pizzuti, there's a reason they're building in Centennial. That way they can buy enough space to design a beautiful blue box.
Ikea, in Emeryville, CA, while not in SF proper (just across the bay), has an urban feel to it, what with all the mid-rise office buildings in the area. So Ikea is not necessarily evil.
Of course the Denver area, with thousands of miles of open space, implies different constraints.
