I have more specific information about the temporary discontinuance of light rail access to Union Station and the start-up of the new light rail station and mall shuttle station. On Saturday, July 23, light rail lines C and E will end at the 10th and Osage station. As has been mentioned in this blog several times, RTD will run buses from 10th and Osage to Union Station.

Early on Monday, August 15, the new light rail and mall shuttle stations will open. Those two stations will be the first elements of the giant project to become operational. There will be pedestrian access to the stations from the city side via 16th and 18th streets, and from Riverfront Park via the Millennium Bridge and the Union Gateway Bridge. There will be a sidewalk along the light rail tracks connecting 16th and 18th streets.

The following photo is not related to the Union Station project, but it is a pretty good shot of downtown that’s worth sharing. I took it at 7:35 PM yesterday from my balcony. I wonder if that beautiful cloud was the source of the storm warnings northeast of Colorado Springs last night. (Click on the photo to enlarge it.)
