Back in August, we announced a new Capitol Hill project that was going to have a huge impact at the intersection of 7th Avenue and Sherman Street. At the time, we had no information on when the project was going to break ground, who was building it or who was managing it.
The size of the project, since our announcement, has remained the same; 8-stories, 105 apartment units. Today, we have some more information for you. First off, here is a new rendering courtesy of Craine Architecture. Managed by RedPeak, 701 Sherman…
…is now under-construction!
Head on over to our announcement post to see what was on the site before it was cleared. What exciting news for Capitol Hill!
Is there any ground floor retail included in this project?
As a former resident who lived on Sherman, this is an exciting change.
Like the old Watson’s at 9th and Lincoln
I gotta say – that is one sharp looking building. A nice change from a lot of what’s going up around town while keeping a high brick content and a modern feel.
Those poor solar panels on the next door house won’t be too useful though…
Ha…I wonder if there is compensation involved for this sort of thing when developing properties.
This scenario likely becomes more common as alternative energy becomes more popular.
Or if they could move the panels to the roof of the new building with a cable running to the house.
if there is compensation I would love to know about it, as my panels are now partially blocked in the morning by a new duplex built next to me. not nearly as bad as the ones in this picture though!
Great observation! I would be so disappointed especially since the solar panels are probably leased. Probably not saving much on that energy bill once that building reaches it peak height.
Interesting how they chose to depict both 7th and Sherman as one-way, 3-lane streets, in that rendering.
