For Part 2 of our final update on the 16th and Wewatta Hotel/Office project, we are going to be looking at 1881 16th Street, the companion office building to the Hotel Born. 1881 16th Street is a five-story building containing 53,000 square feet of office space with ground floor retail facing both the 16th Street Mall and the commuter rail station.

Let’s start by taking a look under the commuter rail canopy. This building is very inviting and has almost the entire ground floor covered in retail. “The Local[ish] Market”, a grab-and-go market, is the perfect retail choice for under the commuter rail canopy. Commuters and travelers will not have to stray far to grab a snack or something to drink.

Here are two closer views of 1881 16th Street showing both the ground-floor retail and passageway to 16th Street in more detail.

Continuum Partners, the developer of this project, relocated their offices to this building and occupy the entire fifth floor. This floor also offers an outdoor deck overlooking 16th Street, as you can see at the very top. A new Bank of America branch occupies the ground-floor retail space along 16th Street.

Even though the Hotel Born and 1881 16th Street are part of the same project, they look different in every way. The variance in height and different facade materials break up any possible monotony along this section of 16th Street. Overall, this project looks great!
