Two new tower cranes have recently been erected around Central Downtown Denver, and are the only two standing in the district as the cranes for 1144 Fifteenth and Le Meridien were taken down late last year.
The first crane is for the 15th and Stout dual-brand hotel. The 21-story building is going to have quite an impact along 15th Street as there are not many tall buildings on the northeast side of the street.
The second tower crane is over at 999 17th Street for the glassy nine-story office building. The 28-story residential portion of the project, The Quincy, is just wrapping up construction and we will be swinging back in the near future for a final update on The Quincy.
Central Downtown Denver has potential for more tower cranes this year with projects such as Block 162 possibly getting underway.
That 999 office building is gonna be so dope
It looks like some preliminary site work is starting on Block 162; can anybody confirm whether they plan to start this year?
Really hoping Block 162 doesn’t just become a huge parking garage with an tiny bit of office stacked on top as is currently planned.
How is 600,000 sq feet of office a ‘tiny’ bit?
Good infill. Always good to see. Since this has aside become about block 162, I like the original plan of one large tower instead of two mid-risers I thought something might change due to the loosening of red tape with construction insurance or something to that end which now allows for higher condo towers in Arapahoe Square. I recall a response to my inquiry a year or so ago on the issue of why two mid-rise towers instead of one higher tower. I’m just thinking that a higher tower on the 15th st. side would be more complimentary to the 650 17th tower once that’s built as it wouldn’t be a lone higher tower. Thanks for your reply.
