Our Update #12 on 999 17th Street—now known as Prism—was only three months ago, but this project is so fun to watch go up (and photograph) that we’re back already with another post.
Last time, glass was going up on the pragmatic Curtis Street side of the building. Now, it’s the prismatic 17th Street side getting the glass. Let’s take a look!
View up 17th Street:
Next we have closeups of the 17th Street facade with five diagonal folds that create six angled reflecting planes:
Finally, a shot looking down 17th Street with the historic Railway Exchange Building (Hotel Monaco) to our right:
Our next update on Prism may be our last as the project is scheduled to open in January 2019.
Wow they’re moving quick on this project and the progress is fantastic. Really great updates this week. Do you guys have a Patreon (or something like that) were we can help support the blog?
Some great infill over the years, but damn; so many empty lots still.
Amen. Made even more jarring by the relatively poor, dated use of street-level space (empty plazas, parking garages, blank walls, etc.)
Really liking this building. Looks better every time you provide us with an update. It’s sharp-looking and different for Denver. Curious if any tenants have locked in. And I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this style of building but 4 to 5 times (or more) taller would be amazing!
It’s looking really great. I’m excited for it to be completed.
Looks great, but I find it an interesting juxtaposition between Prizm and The Quincy. The Quincy has such plain boxy look with bland materials and Prizm is sleek and modern. Also thought it was interesting the parking garage on The Q got brick while the apartments appear to have some sort of siding siding and stucco. These were the same developers correct?
I am not sure why, but I believe the stark contrast between the Quincy and Prizm was 100% intentional as they were designed by the same company. And yes same developers. They were supposed to be managed by partnering companies as well, and that may still be the case.
Have you seen the pool at The Quincy? Amazing if you ask me…..
I drove by this last weekend… really is amazing! Too bad it didn’t have another 50 stories.
So beautiful and amazing – Any word on a new Denver Headquarter coming in or who will be filling this building? Tech Startups?
The pictures here do not do this building justice. I walked by it the other day and it looks much better in real life. In real life it doesn’t come off as being so squat and chunky. I like this one.
