In Denver’s popular River North district, the new Source Hotel + Market Hall project by Zeppelin Development is complete, so it’s time for our final update. Click here for our previous posts on this development.
The Source Hotel provides 100 guest rooms in a nine-story building, along with a ground-floor brewery and barber shop; top-floor restaurant, fitness center and swimming pool; and a second-level market hall featuring two more restaurants and numerous retail vendors. All of this connects to a new five-level parking structure that services the entire complex, including the original Source market hall—the popular RiNo gathering place forged out of an abandoned 1880s iron foundry that opened in 2013.
The Source Hotel + Market Hall was designed by Zeppelin’s go-to architect, Dynia Architects, so that means a design with quirky geometry, modern materials, and lots of garage-door openings—and that’s exactly what we get. Let’s take a look!
Here’s an overview looking south from across Brighton Boulevard:
The building strikes a different pose depending on where you are, with interesting angles all around…
An elevated walkway connects the historic Source building and its outdoor patios to the new market hall and hotel. A level below, the hotel’s valet area leads to the parking structure tucked in the back.
The new market hall features a light-filled open design with vertical-lift doors to the commercial spaces like its historic counterpart next door and garage doors leading to a large outdoor patio.
That’s it for our coverage of the new Source Hotel + Market Hall. What a great addition to RiNo!
Love it !!!
Denver needs more of these types of buildings
Congratulations to the architects
you weren’t able to get into any of the hotel rooms for a tour? i’ve seen some pics and they’re really nice
Hard to tell from the photo, but the pedestrian experience doesn’t seem to be great here. I’m not an architect, though, so that’s not my area of expertise. Seems overall like decent infill, but I’m skeptical that this architecture will stand the test of time. Hope I’m wrong about that.
Great design! Beautiful, classy building. Who says Denver can’t do great architecture???
Reminds me of the 1970s. Paris’ Pompidou Centre lite; like so much of new Denver, modern take on post-modern urban design. Really, it’s not that fresh.
