Webb Municipal Office Building

Name: Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building

Square Footage: 610,000 SF (new), 86,000 SF (renovation of existing Annex One building), 680,000 SF total

Description: New construction of a 12-story office building with 3 levels of underground parking (571 spaces) and ground-floor retail, plus complete renovation of the existing Annex One Building (visible in aerial).

Cost: $200 million

Developer: Mosher Sullivan Development Partners LLC for the City & County of Denver

Architect: David Owen Tryba Architects in association with RNL Design

Contractor: Hensel Phelps Construction

Current status: Construction completed in Fall 2002.

Block 232, the full block between 14th & 15th, held a key position fronting Denver's historic Civic Center Park, yet was dominated by an ugly surface parking lot.  The existing Annex One building, visible in the aerial photo, was still in use by the City, but its low profile and neglected condition left it incapable of serving as a distinguished member of the icons ringing Civic Center Park. With the completion of the Webb Building and the complete restoration of the Annex One building into a single facility, this block finally lives up to its important location.  Next door, the tiny triangle-shaped Block 233, holds a day care center for employees and visitors to the Civic Center area... a good use for such a small site.
