Let’s head on over to another Central Downtown project that’s making its way onto the Denver skyline: 1401 Lawrence. This 22-story building is close to topping out, but that’s not what we are focusing on today.
Glass! The glass curtain wall has started to go up on the 298,000 square foot office building. Here are some pictures from a great, clear weekend.
Over the last couple of updates, we had readers asking what this project looks like from the courtyard in Larimer Square; also where the patio for Bistro Vendôme is located. Here is a picture of that along with a view from the other side, looking down 14th Street.
Here are a couple more views for your Thursday morning.
As a bonus, here is a unique view of 1401 Lawrence. Thank you DenverInfill reader Elizabeth W. for sending us this photo!
1401 Lawrence will top out in the next few weeks, and you can count on us doing another update for that milestone!
Love the photos of this project and the neighboring 1144 Fifteenth St project. You can see the old “tramway building” now known as Su Teatro. I went to UCD in that building 1980-83 (a long time ago, lol). Who could’ve guessed at the time that these hi rise beauties would populate the neighborhood one day?!
Hey Keith, I went to UCD in the Mid-Sixties, when “Tramway Tech” was the headquarters and main classroom building, with outliers in old industrial buildings south of Colfax, and across Speer, in the original Auraria neighborhood of warehouses and old houses, before they were torn down for the new campus.
We watched the grand old Central Bank and Trust Building beaten down by the Denver Urban Renewal Authority, to become a parking lot. Next door, lots of us used to eat in a cafeteria in mid-block, on Arapahoe.
Brooks Towers was already up, next to the Mountain States Tel and Tel Building on 14th, but Larimer Square was yet to be saved by Dana Crawford, fifty years ago. Denver was already a great city of the West, but the so-called City Fathers had no clue, just greed and ambition. Now, here we are, as the rebuild continues…
Awesome post Nash, thanks for that.
Great memories of UCD. We used to say: “I’m enrolled at UCLA (Univ of Colorado at Lawrence & Arapahoe)” lol.
