Back in July, we announced a new 8-story, 164-unit apartment building that was replacing a single story parking garage in the Cherry Creek neighborhood. Since the announcement, construction is now underway for Alexan Cherry Creek.
Excavation for this project is complete and work for the foundation and underground parking structure has begun. Judging by the size of the hole, there will be three levels of underground parking which will be shared with residents and the offices around this project.
There is also a top-slewing tower crane on site that will be there for most of 2016.
A lot of work still has to be done to get this project out of the hole. Once it is out of the ground, we will swing back around for its next update!
Did you get around to the front side of the office building associated with this property? I believe this is the one where they are adding a single floor of retail in place of what was formerly a very suburban “landscape buffer” around the office building. A seemingly small renovation, but one that sets an important precedent, if you ask me. It’s a bit like a modern variation of the historic practice of building a retail storefront onto the front-yard of a home, which I can imagine was only possible in the pre-Euclidian zoning days.
If you keep your eyes open, these are actually everywhere.

Hey Ryan, just an FYI on your Google Earth/Maps shots, if you turn off the 3D buildings option, many times you can get a map that is quite a bit more up to date. For instance at this location, if you turn off the option the map is dated 10/2015, whereas the map for the 3D buildings version is more like from the beginning of 2014.
Yes! I started to do this with ‘The York’ post! Thanks! 🙂
