Today workers began assembling the tower crane for the 1755 Blake project on Block 21 in Lower Downtown Denver. This makes four cranes rising above the LoDo skyline–all within a few blocks of each other. Early in 2008 we should see three more cranes added along LoDo’s edge for the 1800 Larimer, 1900 16th Street, and Four Seasons projects. What a cool time for Lower Downtown!
Here are a few photos of the 1755 Blake crane going up. First, the tower section and operator’s cab in place:

Isn’t this much more exciting than a parking lot?
Much more exciting than a parking lot! Yes!
How do they get the last of the dirt out of the hole..?
What about this 1800 Market business?
1800 market is not going to happen. they would have broken ground by now. It's too expensive to build, and the rents can't justify the costs
I heard the building permit is in.
I guess its better than no crane, but this crane sucks. its like 40 feet tall, compared to all the huge neighboring tall cranes. I heard the Four Seasons crane is set to be put in place the weekend of December 7th-9th. Also heard the spire will be resuming construction in a about two weeks. anyone else heard that?
Im just about sick of staring at the same stupid 3 floors of parking garage that have sat there the last 2 1/2 months, so lets hope something happens soon.
So if 1800 Market does happen are you going to buy everyone drinks for being wrong?
Where do you hear things like that… I mean, about the Spire. Site your sources… I hope you are RIGHT!
yes. my name is John and I own a brewery at 17th & wynkoop. come on down and if I'm not there just drop my name and they'll hook you up-
anon 1:53 get a life. Did you expect them to get a 200 ft crane?
1800 Market's permit extension was to expire on 11/1/07. They extended it until 12/1/07. Someone still has interest in doing this project.
There are always naysayers…such as those that SWORE up and down the Four Seasons tower would NEVER get out of the ground ever ever ever!
Anything is possible.
If you believe the naysayers every time they say something isn't going to happen and they were right, Denver would not exist at all! It'd still be a place where the Indians camped along the Platte River and the Cherry Creek.
Actually, I kind of wish I could see what it looked like then.
is everyone excited for the biggest drinking day or the year in this coming wednesday, tomorrow night… Yes thats right, it is the biggest drinking night of the year because almost EVERYONE has the day off on Thursday. Can't wait to get sloppy. Who is going out??
SITE WHO'S SOURCES? This is a blog not a term paper!
I'm not sure who is talking to who on here, but anon 7:16pm when you site your sources then ask others to do the same…
Oh and John can I get some free pool games too? LOL
I also wish I could see what D-town looked like back in the 1860's. DPL has a few really cool photos from back then. You can see them on their website.
Oh and by the way, 1800 Market will never happen!
joebud,
I didn't say anything that would need to be cited… And quite clearly this isn't a term paper, but I guess I think if someone is going to come on here and say "they heard Spire will resume construction" I'd be curious where they heard that…
I'll bet if I came on and said I had information that the largest skyscraper in the world would be built here next year, you'd wonder where I heard that.
Just checked the Denver permitting website and 1800 market was extended another month to January 1, 2008. Obviously Corum isn't going to let this one die just yet!
spire as of 12-04-07 was not moving.
I'm crazy about cranes and other heavy equipment! Check out the new website of Hitachi: http://www.myhitachiexperience.com
Saw it when I was googling for excavators. Cheers!
