Back in August, I blogged about a new project, the Uptown Apartments, coming to Downtown Denver’s Uptown district at 20th and Park Avenue. The project is supposed to include 194 rental units in a six-story building wrapped around structured parking. At the time, I noted that construction was scheduled to begin in Spring 2008. Last weekend I took this photo of the block:
An excavation company is working at the site so it looks like construction has already begun. I’ll be posting more information on this project soon.
What is the urban planning definition of "spring?" It might seem easy, but different fields have very different ideas. For example, in the academic world there are three seasons, two big ones and one short one; they are "the fall semester," "the spring semester" (which we are in right now) and the far less important, "summer."
Do any projects plan to start in winter, and if so, does Winter 2008 describe right now or does it begin in December? Or is this already spring in construction terms.
I'm interested in living in the Uptown area in another 3-4 years. Does anyone have updated information on the HOPE VI project, with mixed income housing, including units for sale at market rates? I think that is also referred to as the East Village project (with several phases). I know some portions of the project have been completed, but I haven't heard/read much about the later phases coming on line.
Btw, I think this is considered Winter 2008. When you think about it, winter doesn't officially start until Dec. 20 of each year, so really, winter is the "first" season of any given year, at least in my book!
One of the excavators says something about utilites on the side, so I would guess that this is pre-construction utility work.
I don't believe this is Lincoln's property, so it's not for the Hope project they're doing just to the north.
I'm guessing there aren't any renderings?
