Today I’m happy to post a couple of cool photos relating to Trammell Crow’s 1900 16th Street project currently under construction in Downtown Denver’s Union Station district. First, here’s a great shot of all the elevator cores rising at the site. This photo is courtesy of Phil C.
Next, here’s a view very few of us get to enjoy. This was taken from the cab of one of the tower cranes working at 1900 16th. Visible through the window is the green roof of the EPA building. Thank you to Kevin Handley of Tryba Architects for this photo:
I didn't know the EPA building had grass on its roof. I heard that can help save on cooling costs.

I just took a tour of the EPA building yesterday. It's quite amazing, with a full atrium to the roof, a cool water feature meant to provide humidity, and the roof is covered by succulent plants, not grass. It apparently is still very experimental and studies are being conducted to try to figure out the best plants to use that require little to no watering as well as a shallow soil depth.
wow this is really gonna be a great site. It'll bring some nice density to that area.
