Many questions have been floating around about what is going on at Speer Boulevard and Washington Street. There has been a huge pit in the ground for quite some time with very limited information out there on the project itself. Hopefully today I can answer some of those questions. The Speer & Washington Apartments are going to provide the Speer neighborhood 107 rental units. Here is a map with the project site highlighted. At 255 Washington Street, this will sit on the south side of Speer Boulevard along Washington.
I haven’t been able to locate any renderings but I have been able to find some elevations giving you a general idea of what this project will look like. The structure will top out at five stories with two stories of underground parking.
The site itself is fairly large with a diagonal portion along Speer. With the parking structure almost completed, this should break street level fairly soon.
Density along Speer Boulevard has always been a neat sight which this project is contributing greatly to! Shaw Construction is the builder and this is expected to be complete by November of this year.
Thanks for this update. I live down the block and haven’t been able to discover anything since it broke ground.
Now, how about the corner of 6th and Speer? My roommate was in the Diamond Shamrock that occupies that corner just a week ago, and the attendant warned him that it was closing soon. She wasn’t kidding, as the whole triangle lot is fenced off as of today! Any idea what that might be?
It’s a challenge to figure out a building based on elevations after being spoiled by renderings, but it does force you to study it. I’ve looked at a cleaner PDF, which helped. I like it, based on the limited information presented. It’s in a very good location in terms of recreational and entertainment amenities.
Nice Design with more spacious apartments. Very good location too
Any information/renderings for the proposed apartment building further north on Speer at 6th & Grant? They have closed and fenced off the gas station there in advance of demolition.
Working on it. It’s going to be apartments. The zoning allows for up to 12 stories there. Stay tuned…
Thanks, Ken.
Thanks Ken. Any retail associated with it? Who is doing the development?
