In addition to the 16 Chestnut project, we also have an update on 16 Wewatta which is also known as the Triangle Building.

Developed by East West Partners, the 10-story 220,000 square foot office building is expected to break ground in October of this year. The design of 16 Wewatta has been tweaked, so we have some high-resolution renderings to share with you, thanks to Chris Frampton of East West Partners. Make sure you click to embiggen.

First we will look at the project looking northwest down the 16th Street Mall. The Triangle Building will fill the last undeveloped parcel on the southwest side of 16th Street along its entire existence from Broadway to 30th and Tejon. Awesome!

Here is a rendering looking down on the building. You can clearly see why it’s called the Triangle Building.

Here is the building looking north down Wewatta from 15th Street. This building will have an all-glass facade plus a small setback on the Wewatta Street side.

Because of the triangular shape of the parcel, the building will have a great pointed edge at the 16th, Chestnut, Wewatta intersection.

If you have been on one of Ken’s great Union Station tours, he has presented information about the proposed Union Station commuter bike station which will be a part of this development. The new bike facility will be placed in a small public plaza located between the EPA Building and the Triangle Building. We will cover the details of the commuter bike station in a separate post, but a conceptual rendering of it is shown below.

The parking ratio will be one stall per 1,000 square feet which will be underground. 16 Wewatta is seeking LEED gold certification and is expected to be complete May 2015.
