Continuing on our Lower Highland / Jefferson Park infill tour, let’s head over to Zuni Street to check in at the Skyline View Apartments site. Last time we visited this project in April, just the concrete podium was up with the timber structure just starting to rise on the second level.
The wise always say, ‘a watched pot never grows’ and seeing how I haven’t been by this site since April, the saying has some merit. This project is just about complete and we are now able see some of the materials that are being used; a combination of brick, stucco, and metal paneling.
The Skyline View Apartments look very out of place right now because there are few high density buildings along this stretch of Zuni Street. Seeing how the Lower Highland neighborhood is a hot spot for development right now, I wouldn’t be surprise if this changed in the near future!
Anyone know the plans for the lot adjacent to the new building? I was disappointed to see the building didn’t cover the whole site. Keeping my fingers crossed it won’t become a parking lot. That would be a buzz kill…
I agree with Lars–I don’t get why this building doesn’t go to the corner. Right now, that important intersection has only one building directly on it, the one-story Green Garage on the NE corner. Directly across Zuni from this Skyline View project is the intensely suburban-style Residence Inn by Marriott–wouldn’t it be great to see that large chunk of land redeveloped!
I agree with Lars and Mark – I would love to know the deal is with the corner. When the project first went under construction, there was a house at the corner that I think was being used as a construction office. Then there was a small fire in the house and it was demolished. It seems like the developers own this corner lot, but as of now there is nothing built on it… Any insight from the Infill team would be appreciated!
Hope it won’t become a 7-11. They are turning up everywhere.
Could the vacant lot on the corner be Phase 2?
Good Day Infillers~
My name is Jeremy Goins and I am the new Community Manager of 2828 Zuni (the community previously set to be named Skyline View Apartments). I will see what inoformation I can find out about the corner lot but we are not currently planning a second phase in the immediate future (we still aren’t finished with the building construction afterall). 2828 Zuni will be comprised of 105 beautiful apartment homes complete with granite countertops, stailess steel appliances and plank-flooring. We are diligently building these beautiful apartment homes with our first move-ins scheduled for February 1, 2014. Very soon, we will complete construction of our 2nd floor Sundeck and al-fresco dining area and are currently touring our model apartment by appointment only. If you are interested in seeing what we’ve done so far, please feel free to contact me at 303.502.3977 or [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
