Last year, our first post of 2013 was on the exciting 16M project. At that time, the old Office Depot building was demolished and leaving behind a pile of rubble. Now, a year and a few days later, progress on 16M has made leaps and strides. The building has started to make a huge impact on both Market Street and the 16th Street Mall. Let’s take a look!

As of today, 16M has risen six stories out of a total of ten. Farther down Market Street, towards 15th Street, the 5-story portion of the building has topped out and the second tower crane has been removed. 16M will not be the only building making a huge impact on this side of Market Street. The historic Rocky Mountain Seed building is going under restorations which will also include ground floor retail with offices above. As soon as both of these projects are complete, the pedestrian experience will greatly improve compared to what was there before.

Here are two more unique angles of the 16M project. The first picture shows how well 16M contributes to the street wall of Market Street. In the second picture, you may not see the 10-story building quite yet, but once it tops out, there will also be a great street wall down the 16th Street Mall.

The 10-story building will have ground floor retail along both 16th Street Mall and Market street, and will provide Lower Downtown with 130,000 square feet of office space and 47 apartment units. 16M will be complete later this year and we are very excited to see this project when it’s complete!
