Another hotel kicks off in the Cherry Creek North neighborhood! Replacing an old office building, the Rollnick Hotel is going to contain 200 rooms in an eight story building. This is the third hotel in Cherry Creek that is under construction.
As with all new projects, drilling and foundation work are the first steps. Excavation will go down two stories for the underground parking structure.
Once these hotel projects are complete, Cherry Creek will have an additional 525 new rooms; assuming no more hotels are announced in the next year or so.
I guess I don’t understand what’s driving the need for all of these hotels in cherry creek.
Convention Center I understand, even LoDo, but what’s the draw at cherry creek besides a mall?
Three things: First, I think most people would say that what makes Cherry Creek special is not the mall, but the wonderfully walkable shopping district of Cherry Creek North. Second, with a significant amount of office development in Cherry Creek, there follows a demand for business-serving hotels. Third, with Denver’s urban tourism economy booming, staying at a boutique hotel in Cherry Creek is just as viable and centrally located to most of Denver’s urban amenities as is Downtown.
I’d say Cherry Creek offers an upscale, genteel environment compared to downtown, as well as more shopping and comparable dining. It’s also a financial center, with a multitude of weath management organizations; clients and business associates come into town and visit these offices. Finally, the hotels are good wedding sites, with spas and salons nearby for prep, and plenty of walkable destinations (as well as the CC bike path) for guests before and after the events.
makes sense. thanks guys.
On which corner is being built? And is there a rendering?
I’ve done a search and cannot find anything. Thanks!
2nd and Milwaukee St. Apparently, they tore down a 6-story 70s-ish building to construct this.
It was actually only a 4-story building.
Jason is correct. It was a 6-story building. Here is the old listing for it:
I was basing my assessment off the Google street view. https://www.google.com/maps/place/39°43'09.9%22N+104°57'08.0%22W/@39.7196464,-104.9522094
Looking closely, it can be seen that it is only every other dark glass is actually a window. Plus there is this listing that also states it is/was a 4-story building.
