To wrap up the week, we have a quick post on 1709 Chestnut as a new tower crane is starting to go up! As of last night, the mast was built with the first part of the jib up on the top.
Looking down into the pit we can see the crawler crane, used to erect the tower crane, and another tower crane base. The second tower crane will go up this weekend.
As a bonus, here are four pictures, with fountains, of the historic Union Station building decked out in pride colors.
Have a great weekend DenverInfill readers!
What’s the count of total number of tower cranes up in denver as of now? There hasn’t been a census done since 2013 or 14 from what i can see on the site.
thx
Off the top of my head 14 cranes. I might just have to photograph a census over the weekend! 🙂
The one at Union Tower West was coming down today (6/18).
At The Confluence, they were jumping the crane for the taller tower.
I saw all of that! Census coming tomorrow!
The most shocking thing is in the first picture. Look at how much excavation has been done on the 16 Chestnut parcel. Wasn’t it just two days ago when it had just started?!
Yes, I noticed that too. They have made major progress at 16 Chestnut in just a couple of days.
I am curious how these developments are dealing with the ground water. Are they using a de-watering well system or are they like the bus terminal and have a thick, waterproof concrete wall (basically an underground boat)?
Cadence, 1601 Wewatta, Platform, etc have all used a de-watering system so I’m sure it’s the same with this one.
Boston resident here who enjoys visiting your city and loves reading your blog! Out of curiosity…has there been any word about work starting at “The Coloradan” site and the Hilton Garden Inn near the ballpark? It’s been fun to watch this neighborhood blossom from afar!
I haven’t heard anything on those two yet but you’ll definitely know when they start moving forward!
And thank you, Ryan, for posting the pics of Union Station decked out in Pride colors.
Absolutely! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to photograph it last night! 🙂
yeah – those are spectacular
Thank you for the spectacular photos of DUS!
