Catalyst, a 300,000 square foot office and retail project, is now progressing in the River North neighborhood. This project is going to take up a full block along Brighton Boulevard between 35th and 36th Streets. Head on over to our announcement post for renderings and more details.
For this update, we are going to utilize the best tool to check out the progress of a full city block: aerial imagery. Demolition of the existing structures is still underway and it looks like they are about halfway done with clearing the block.
Catalyst is going to be built in phases so we should see excavation start fairly soon for the first phase.
You are gutting and erasing a critical neighborhood for young people in Denver! Do not pretend this is for them—it is for the gentrifiers, the gastro-bros, the apologists of capital! Innovation comes from the ground, in these warehouses, not from “Health-Tech’ buzzwords formulated by former Pfizer employees!
Cool story bro.
Have you actually seen what was there on those lots? The Brighton Blvd side had a few single story buildings that contained two vape shops and some place called “Urban Cyclist,” which I presume had something to do with cycling. The portion facing Delgany was empty. Vape shops are not innovation. If the city had continued to grow through the 70’s/80’s, like it had the few decades before, those single story buildings would have been replaced by multi-story buildings long ago.
What young people were populating Brighton Blvd over the past few decades? It’s been an industrial wasteland with no significant residential presence. Also, the young people you speak of need jobs. Bringing more healthcare companies to Denver in both established companies and innovative startups will create more jobs for the young people you seem to be worried about.
Stop gentrifying abandoned warehouses! Where will the mice live!?
They’ll move north to Commerce until the next wave of Tenementation occurs.
I’m sure he is referring to rhinoceropolis for all you who haven’t picked up a Westword in the last 12 years
