X Denver, in Union Station North, is now complete with residents moving in. Before we dive into this final update, we need to clear up a few things with the name of this project and subsequent others that are proposed and under construction. The Union Station North X Denver project was originally split into two phases which were aptly named “X Denver 1” and “X Denver 2.” When the Arapahoe Square X Denver was proposed, the naming sequence continued with “X Denver 3.” Now that the first two buildings are complete, the X Company refers to the first two projects as just “X Denver,” with the third rendition as “X Denver 2.”
Going forward, the Union Station North project will be just “X Denver,” with the Arapahoe Square project as “X Denver 2.” There is also a proposal for a “X Denver 3” on 2000 Welton that we will get to in our next Arapahoe Square Roundup.
Now that we got that cleared up, let’s get to the final update. X Denver is a large co-living development, a concept that has been slowly introduced to Downtown Denver over the past few years. Between both buildings, X Denver provides 813 beds spread out between 455 homes. At 12-stories, these two buildings are also the tallest in Union Station North.
X Denver stands very prominently when viewed from the City of Cuernavaca Park. One of the features we saw back in the official renderings was mural work on the blank elevator cores. This splash of color adds a lot to the facade and is much better than looking at a 12-story slab of concrete.
X Denver is nestled in an already dense neighborhood filling in the backmost lot towards the train tracks. Here are a few more photos from the street level and the Park Avenue viaduct.
Wrapping up, below are a few higher vantage points of the two buildings, including an unobstructed view of the mural and the expansive, multi-level rooftop deck.
As rent prices are still soaring around Denver, co-living does allow many to rent a private space for a much more economical price while still allowing them to embrace the urban lifestyle.
Welcome to Downtown Denver, X Denver!
Kinda gross that they’re providing beds. I’d want to bring my own bed.
You’ve never lived in a fully furnished apartment before? It’s pretty common.
The coloring book mural is pretty bad…you can really tell when artists don’t know how to integrate work into the architecture…
I think the mural does a decent job of covering up an otherwise disgusting building design. The City of Denver deserves better design and architecture. Six stories of exposed parking with a 30′ x 125′ exterior concrete structure should NEVER be approved by the city. I’m pro density but not at the expense of terrible design.
Is this neighborhood subject to a design approval process by the city, Jack?
I know some neighborhoods are, but I’ve never heard that this one is.
Kinda harsh JP, I love the mural
Agreed. I think the artist did a great job!
seems like the party deck should be facing the city skyline for a real dramatic effect instead of Cuervanaca Park
I’ve been up there actually and believe it or not it has mountain views.
Love 455 units, but wow this is bland. I’m typically pretty accepting of these as “background” buildings, but with this structure’s size and location it will always be on prominent display.
Now if we could just get the noisy railroad rerouted around Denver and make it one giant long park that would be awesome! 😉
What a clunker. The geometry & massing is interesting. The materials and colors are…uh? When all else fails put a mural on it.
Hate to be right next to those train tracks. Seen them come through a few times and they can be very LOUD.
This is a huge eyesore.
