Downtown Denver’s tallest project under construction is trekking right along. A few weeks ago, we reported that steel started going up above the 12th floor. As the structure continues rising, we now have a couple of answers in regards to renderings versus reality.
First, let’s start off with the back of 1144 Fifteenth, facing the Four Seasons tower. The steel structure for the 13th floor is mostly complete. When these photos were taken, workers were jumping the tower crane as you can see in the first photo.
Moving around the building, we can really start to see the true color of the glass and how it will look on the rest of the building. It’s a very mild cool blue color which will nicely contrast with the earth toned buildings around it.
Since the announcement of 1144 Fifteenth, there have been many questions about how the parking structure is going to be treated on the Arapahoe Street side. The model showed one rendition, the earlier renderings showed two different concepts, and the final rendering still made it slightly ambiguous.
We can confidently say that what is going up is the best case scenario; the entire base will have the same glass facade as the rest of the building.
Almost exactly a year ago, the core was barely peeking out of the ground. What an exciting project to watch!
Architects gearing up to work on other projects, large and small, might want to hold off for a while. 1144 is going to raise the bar in Denver to unimaginable heights. Hopefully this building will herald a new era of streamlined, modern architecture in Denver that will get us out of this earth-toned Colotechture rut. Here’s hoping…
More importantly, what can we expect for exterior illumination? Anything? I heard about the strip but is that really all they’re planning to do? That was the best part of the whole project.
i heard the crown lighting is now a no-go (unfortunately)… that would have been an amazing feature not only for this building, but for the entire downtown denver skyline 🙁
Being close to the mountains I would advise for minimal exterior illumination. We need to reduce lighting that goes straight into the sky.
I don’t understand this comment. What does denver’s proximity to the mountains have to do with skyscraper illumination?
If only more residential would go with glass facades…
This modern, sleek glass beauty is going to be great. Take notice, Denver.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH…SAY NO TO EARTH TONES.
Can we expect any street level retail in this building, or will it be pure office space?
There will be street level retail along Lawrence and Arapahoe. The Arapahoe side will have an integrated elevated patio between the ROW and the building’s façade.
