Last but not least of Denver’s Lower Downtown infill projects under construction is 1755 Blake, a five-story, 125,000-square foot office project being developed by First Century Development on Block 021. Here’s a recent photo:
There’s also a new rendering of 1755 Blake on the project website:
If I get a higher-resolution version of this or other new renderings of 1755 Blake, you know I’ll post them here at DenverInfill. 1755 Blake should be complete later this year.
Like the SugarCube building I like how these new LoDo projects don't try to mimic the surrounding architecture. I think LoDo looks more layered and interesting with contrasting building styles. I am all for preserving old significant buildings but if its a new build than yes as 1755 Blake website suggests, lets put LoDo in fast forward.
Good work Ken on the high volume of updates! I appreciate it.
I'm still not quite a big fan of the way 1755 Blake looks. The bottom portion of it just looks so… 70's. Then everything from the third floor up looks random and though together. Functionally though it's better than what was there. So in that sense, I'm glad it's getting built.
This building is hideous. It's so incredibly busy, it looses any elegance it could have potentially had with good detailing. I know it's not 100% complete… but the final product is looking grim.
