Kiewit crews continue preparation for laying track at the new light rail station and at the temporary Amtrak station. Here is a pictorial update of both sites.
Also notice in the second photo that additional recycled canopies have been installed at the Amtrak station. I wonder why the passenger platform (and canopies) bend to the right? Perhaps, it is necessary to allow space for construction of permanent tracks for commuter rail and other trains behind Union Station. I’ll get the answer next week. In the meantime, we can speculate.
The photos above are the only ones that I added this week to our Denver Union Station page at JobSiteVistor.com. However, I added a few late last week.
I also see the fabric ready to be unrolled on top of the light rail canopy…Thanks so much for these updates, Rick!!!!!!
Phillip, good catch on the fabric! I completely missed it.
Looks like the fabric was finished on Saturday. Also, a fence was just put up around the old fire station at Chestnut and 20th. Is it finally going to be used for something? Any truth to the rumors it might be turned into a restaurant?
Chachafish, thanks for keeping us, including me, up to date. I am in Boston until Monday night. I will try to get the scoop on the old fire station this week. I’ll also get photos of the finished canopies.
