As the world knows by now, the Central Platte Valley Light Rail Line was shut down last Friday. Today, let’s take a look at what has happened since then. I took the following series of photos at about 9:00 this morning.
The tracks at the light rail station are mostly gone.
The tracks that were embedded in the two-block section of 16th Street are completely gone.
The curved tracks that wrapped around the new DaVita Building at the base of the Millennium Bridge are gone.
Tracks from the new light rail station have been extended southward, under the Millennium Bridge, and are en route to meet up with the old tracks next to the DaVita Building.
Today, I uploaded 19 more photos to our Denver Union Station page at JobSiteVistor.com in addition to the five that I uploaded on Tuesday.
Great update! It’s very exciting to see the first working component of DUS almost operational.
Will 17th between the light rail station and Chestnut be in its finished state (open with pavers) by the 15th? Will the chestnut pavillion be finished from the exterior? And will sidewalks/streets on 16th and chestnut all be done by that date? Thanks.
Marco, 17th between light rail and Chestnut will be open since that’s part of the shuttle bus loop, but perhaps only for the shuttle bus at this point. I assume some sidewalk improvements through there too although I don’t know how complete the whole pedestrian amenities will be by Aug 15th. The Chestnut Pavilion will not be finished, as it will only be used to access the underground bus facility which won’t be done until 2013/2014. When they’ll have the exterior finished…I don’t know.
