Mark your calendars! Please join us for our Denver Union Station walking tour this Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:00 AM.
Important notice: I’ll be out of town the first Saturday in July when we’d normally have our next tour, so after this Saturday, our next tour won’t be until July 21. Also—and this is even more critical—once the Union Station Alliance team completes negotiations with RTD and they are able to begin renovating the historic station, access to the inside of the station will be restricted later this year until the project’s completion in 2014. Therefore, if you’d like to see the inside of Union Station one last time (or maybe for the first time?!) before the building undergoes its big transformation, this Saturday may be one of your last opportunities until 2014 to see the inside the station as part of one of our tours. Don’t delay… join us this Saturday and don’t forget your camera!
Here’s how it works: Head on down to the LoDo side of the historic station at about 9:50 AM—meet at the corner of 17th and Wynkoop. Whoever shows up, that will be our tour group. We’ll start promptly at 10:00 AM and conclude around 11:00 AM at the new light rail station by the Millennium Bridge. The suggested donation for the tour is $10 per person and all proceeds go to the non-profit Student Chapter of the American Planning Association at the University of Colorado Denver, but you are more than welcome to take the tour whether you make a donation or not.
On the tour, we’ll see and talk about all four aspects of this major project: the transit elements, the public spaces, the renovation of the historic station, and lots of private-sector developments.
See you Saturday morning!
Thank you everyone for the great turnout this Saturday–21 people!
Remember, our next tour will be Saturday, July 21 at 10:00 AM.
many thanks Ken…great tour and exciting times!
Sorry for being off topic but is it possible to send questions? For instance I’m curious if you know what is being done in the north end of the Office Depot parking lot on Colfax. Or the next phase of the South Lincoln Park neighborhood redevelopment, plans for a light rail station there?
I meant light rail parking lot, sorry.
As far as the Office Depot property goes they’re developing a smaller Depot building on the corner. Then eventually they will demolish the old building for an apartment building.
Wow! Cool I had no idea what was going on w/Union Station. Would love to join on July 21st.
