It’s not very often we see two tower cranes go up on two different project sites all in less than a week’s time span. 16M now has a tower crane on site and we should start seeing vertical construction very soon! Exciting!
As always, I have some pictures of the new crane for you! Nothing like fresh rain and a deep blue sky on this gorgeous spring day!
For a little high resolution bonus shot, here is the view off of the Millennium Bridge. Notice 16M’s new crane? Also, this is the last year you will be able to see the skyline from this bridge, so get all your pictures taken!
Construction just keeps on trekking along around Downtown Denver. What an exciting year so far!
Can you post links to the renderings/plans for these developments in the post where you mention them by name… It makes it easier to reference and compare the progress to the plans.
I thought I linked it on the first line. Fixed!
I am very exited for this block to be redeveloped. This will help create a terrific pedestrian connection between Larimer Square and Union Station. If the redevelopment of Market Street Station (which is right at the center of this connection) does not include a lot of unique retail and an appealing public plaza, it will be a tremendous missed opportunity. I think a public market like Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia or Pikes Place Market in Seattle would be great as part of the redevelepment of MSS. I still think a public market (like San Francisco’s Ferry Building) would have been a perfect use of the wings of Union Station, with the hotel above. Instead we are getting more pretentious, over-priced restaurants there. I feel the developer of Union Station is also showing there snobbishness by kicking out the two model railroad clubs that have occuppied the US basement loss for 30 and 80 years. This is such a despicable loss of a great attraction and tradition. There is no better location in town for these models.
Also, the vacant lot on Blake Street across from Coors Field would be ideal for a year-round attraction like a Colorado sports and music hall of fame and entertainment. The old warehouse that is currently a Public Storage would be perfect for something like Saint Louis’ totally awesome City Museum.
LODO and Ball Park need to be more than just bars, restaurants, lofts, and apartments.
P.S.: I am psyched about The Source market opening on Brighton Blvd. next month, but I still think we could have another public market downtown that could compliment, and not compete with The Source.
Thanks for reading!
I agree.
I was just in Boston last week and something like Faneuil Hall would be perfect in the MSS spot.
Drove past this area Saturday morning with street closures starting in order to get this crane added for the construction. The changes should start showing soon.
Hello,
Just a quick question. Does anyone have any idea of what will be built on the parking lot directly across the mall from the 16M site??
