Today we are going to look at an already familiar project that has recently been renamed. The Platform at Union Station, formally known as 1650 Wewatta, is the 21-story apartment tower rising in the Union Station Neighborhood. Of course there is more to update than just the name change. Let’s take a look!
The Platform is a very fitting name for this project because this building will be right up against the commuter rail train hall. Talk about great access to multiple transit options right outside the front door! As far as construction progress is concerned, it’s always exciting when a building breaks ground level because we will, for one, be able to see it rise and two, since the foundation and underground parking structure take longer to build, we should see the main structure go up at a much quicker pace!
Here are two additional shots of the project from my favorite vantage point. You can now clearly see how much of the block the building is going to take up. The lot directly south of The Platform is planned for a future development.
These are very exciting times for the Union Station neighborhood and I’m sure it will be a very exciting sight seeing the tallest building in the redevelopment field rise! The 288-unit apartment building is expected to be complete around December 2014.
I really love this blog but i would love to see a user submission page. For instance, the Denver Business Journal recently reported on the addition of an urban format King Soopers in the Union Station neighborhood. Clearly, this is something that should be reported on here in a timely fashion. Of course, allowing user submissions would enhance your ability to quickly reach your audience.
lb,
We’ve been covering the King Soopers project for over a year now!

This is incredible coverage for Union Station. Who writes this great site and who takes these great photos?
Hey Mike,
The majority of the time, the author of the post writes and takes the photos unless otherwise noted. So I would be both the photographer and writer for this post.
Was that a rhetorical question?
Supposedly there is a boutique hotel in the works for the corner next to this project. Do you have any more info?
I’ve heard rumors of a hotel on the rest of Block A, but also that those rumors are no longer true. Haven’t heard anything definitive lately about the two remaining buildings on Block A.
