Back in March, we explored a new territory (for DenverInfill) that’s receiving a significant amount of development. Along Colorado Boulevard, next to the Colorado light rail Station and Interstate 25, hundreds of residential units, over 40,000 square feet of retail, and more than 200,000 square feet of office space is planned.
For today’s update, we are going to focus on the 15-story, 210,000 square foot office building that’s been steadily going up. Since March, the tower has topped out and the glass facade is nearly complete. Architecturally, this tower fits in with the rest of the Colorado Center.
There are some new proposals for this area that we are currently gathering information on. Stay tuned for another update!
What is going in at the burned out motel that is being torn down on Evans and 25? It is in walking distance to the Colorado light rail station.
A self storage thing I think.
I have heard it is to be a self storage building. Kind of odd that someone who not build something residential with the fantastic views the west side of the that property has. I guess they are still hung up on getting approval for asbestos remediation, which is where they were before the fire. Too much cement block for the whole thing to burn down, LOL.
Ugly
By “fits architecturally” do you mean “is half parking garage?” Denver’s version of TOD is warped – we need parking maximums.
Could not agree more!
It’s an obscene about of parking for a “TOD”
Agreed, although I bet they went overboard to replace some of the parking for Dave & Busters and the movie theaters that was lost. I went to a movie there a couple of weeks ago and noticed that the existing garage fills up to capacity with that surface lot removed.
To that point, Colorado Center is located at a very busy interchange on I-25. They’ve been driving to the theater or D & B’s for what 15 years? Old habits die hard, unfortunately.
Or transit doesn’t adequately serve the target area of these two entertainment options. Sure, the SE lines are there but if you’re coming from the N, E or even the W your transit options are limited. We’ve got a regional transportation system, not a local one.
I was coming more from more of an aesthetics standpoint but agree with all of you. That’s a ridiculous amount of parking for any development.
