Less than a month ago we visited 1144 Fifteenth at the ground level. Today, we are going to check it out from a farther-out perspective as it’s starting to make an impact on the skyline level.
Let’s start out with a view from Speer Boulevard, just north of Wewatta Street. Here we can see the almost-complete 1401 Lawrence project and a rising core directly to the left. The 10-story structure is now visible from a distance. After 12-stories, the steel structure will start to rise.
In addition to a great view of The Confluence, Ken also has a great view of 1144 Fifteenth. Thanks again, Ken, for the awesome photos!
Our next update on 1144 Fifteenth will be when the concrete structure transitions to steel. See you then!

I spy with my telephoto lens, a bunch of glass getting ready to go in. Not only will we start to see steel go up real soon, glass work will also start on the parking garage!
that first image really captures how disappointing the parking garage enclosure on 1401 Lawrence is.
it looks unfinished and cheap. disappointing aspect of an otherwise nice project.
Pity that 1401 Lawrence is so stumpy. It should have been about 15-20 stories taller. Too much of it is parking garage as Citizen Kane said above. Sad!
Agreed!
Yes, it could’ve been a beautiful addition to the skyline. As it is we’ll just have to refer to it as “stumpy.”
Agreed. Denver has a _____tload of new construction but zero differentiates any new heights. Which in my opinion is kind of the competitive nature of most cities. LA just got a new tallest, Seattle is planning an even taller building. Where that ends isn’t the point it’s just part of the urban ideal for most cities. It’s as if Denver wants to re-invent the wheel of urbanism. This 1144 is the ‘first’ tall skyscraper office building since what 1984 but it’s like it’s why does it have to be scared to poke up higher than the rest which would really make a measurable difference in the skyline which is otherwise ‘the same.’ for decades. It’s obvious that Denver is a good market and would eventually fill any amount of office space in one building or 12.
Soon Brooks Towers will no longer be visible.
And that will be a good thing!
LMAO – why will that be a good thing? Brooks Towers was the tallest building in Denver when I was a kid, 1967-74.
