Since its announcement back in March, 2401 Blake has been making some significant progress. Demolition of the existing structures is complete along with the excavation. When we stopped by this project last weekend, the first floor of the main structure was starting to go vertical.
For this update, we will be exploring the project along Blake Street starting from the 24th Street side. The temporary red supports getting put in place are for ceiling of the first floor, which consists of a concrete structure.
The building towards 25th street is also going vertical with the columns for the first floor now complete.
2401 Blake will top out at seven-stories and provide 241 apartment homes to the Ballpark neighborhood.
Nice how that will add to a continuous infill wall along Blake St.
I suspect this is going to be another ugly dog of a building. Judging by the renderings posted last March, I see that the architects have provided themselves with all sorts of opportunities for unresolved, clunky details and cheap looking materials. It’s nice that they have broken the mass up into visually separate buildings but it lacks refinement. I expect it to look better under construction then it will finished.
